Double Bind

L'expression « double-contrainte », (désignée originalement comme double bind -« double lien »), qui découle de notions mises en évidence par les théories de la communication et par la cybernétique, est une notion centrale de la théorie systémique. Double Bind. Qu'est-ce que peut ce terme inventé il y a un peu plus que 50 ans pour donner d'autres origines que ceux purement physiologique à la schizophrénie, qu'est-ce que ce terme peut encore nous dire ou faire comprendre aujourd'hui? En quoi il nous concerne encore? Nous le savons tous une situation double bind est invalidante.

Notre rapport à l'ordinateur, à l'internet serait-il double bind, bound, bond?
Je suis ton friend, mais tu ne me connaîtras pas?
Présence à distance, ubiquité, multiple personnalité, décorporalisation ? En quoi ça nous rend schizophrénique? Comment nous nous adaptons?

Pour y répondre 7 Artistes, invités par Annie Abrahams et panoplie.org feront une performance web dans le salon virtuel de panoplie.org qui sera pour l'occasion équipé de deux images webcam (vidéo et son).
Double Bind est la suite des sessions Breaking Solitude, l'art d'expérimenter de nouvelles façons d'être ensemble, qui ont eu lieu entre novembre 2006 et février 2008 sur le site de panoplie.org. Between November 2006 and February 2008 we organised two seasons of rendezvous on the web called "Breaking Solitude", "different ways of being together". 14 Artists accepted to do a performance in the experimental situation created in the virtual salon of panoplie.
Some features, such as time limits (between 5 and 20 minutes) and a refusal to pod cast the performances related these events to traditional contemporary art performances. Others like the participation of the public using a chat window made them to a new experience for both the artist and the public.
The performing artist was confronted to the brute and often emotional reactions of his public, which were not always as respectful as in art centres, museums and galleries.
The participating audience had the privilege to assist in a performance, to see and hear a person during an act of creation without having to subject to the social rites of the art world. The only thing that remains from the performance is its immediate feedback, the text written by the audience.

In this new season Breaking Solitude becomes Double Bind.

Is our relation to the computer and internet double bind, bound, bond?
I am your friend but you will never know me?
Remote presence, ubiquity, multiple personality, absence of the body? Does this make us schizophrenic? How do we adapt?
